Bathroom installations

Bathrooms stripped out and rebuilt properly: waterproofing you will never see doing the work that keeps the tiling you do see looking right for years.

The work you never see decides everything

Judge a bathroom quote by what it says about the parts you will never look at. Anyone can show you tiles. The jobs that come back to haunt people fail underneath: no tanking behind the shower, wastes run with no fall, tile laid over a flexing floor. We are a building firm, so the substrate is treated as structure. Floors stiffened, boards suited to wet areas, membranes lapped and sealed, and only then does tiling start.

That order of operations is the difference between a bathroom that looks good at handover and one that still looks good when you sell the house.

Scoped once, priced once

The bathroom trade runs on optimistic quotes that grow once the old suite is out. We do the opposite: the survey happens before the price, we lift what can be lifted and check what can be checked, and the quote lists strip-out, first fix, tanking, tiling and finishing as separate figures. If the floor hides a genuine surprise, you get the cost of the fix in writing before we carry on, at rates agreed when you signed.

Every wet area we build is tanked before it is tiled. Tiles and grout are decoration, not waterproofing, and most leaking bathrooms we are called to repair failed because someone treated them as the same thing.

What the work covers

Bathrooms, in detail

Full strip-out

Old suite, tiles and boarding out, floor and walls inspected while they are exposed. This is the moment hidden rot or old leaks are cheap to deal with.

Tanking and waterproofing

Showers and wet areas tanked with proper membrane systems before tiling. It is invisible in the finished room and it is the whole job.

Plumbing and electrics

New pipework runs, wastes with correct falls, extractor fans and shaver points installed and certified to current regulations.

Walk-in showers and wet rooms

Level-access showers and full wet rooms with formed falls, linear drains and floors built to hold water where it belongs.

Tiling

Walls and floors tiled by our own tilers on flat, prepared backgrounds. Large-format tile hides nothing, so preparation is most of the skill.

Family and en suite bathrooms

From compact en suites carved out of a bedroom corner to full family bathroom refits, planned around how your household actually queues in the morning.

Questions

Questions, answered straight

How much does a new bathroom cost fitted?

A straightforward like-for-like refit of a standard family bathroom generally sits in the mid thousands fitted, and moving the layout, adding a wet room or dealing with old floors pushes it up from there. The honest answer for your house comes after a look at it, as a written itemised price.

How long does a bathroom refit take?

Around two weeks for a typical full refit: strip-out and first fix in the first week, tiling and second fix in the second. Tanking, adhesive and grout all need proper curing time, and rushing those stages is how bathrooms fail early.

Will we be without a bathroom during the work?

If you have a second bathroom or toilet, disruption is minor. If it is your only one, we sequence the job so a working toilet is available each night wherever the pipework allows, and we tell you before we start exactly which days will be awkward.

Do bathrooms need building regulations approval?

A like-for-like replacement generally does not, but new electrics in a bathroom must meet wiring regulations and be certified, and moving soil pipes or forming a new bathroom does bring building regs into play. We handle the notifications and certificates where they apply.
